About n0tice

What is n0tice?

n0tice is a community noticeboard, a platform that simply seeks to answer the question – what’s happening near you?

Launched publicly by Guardian Media Group in March 2012 for web and mobile use, the service provides users with the ability to easily share news, events and offers in their chosen locality.

At its most straightforward, n0tice.com is a new version of a very old idea – a community noticeboard. Users can post reports, offers or events for everyone in their area to see or set up their own noticeboards – become ‘noticeboard owners’.

Noticeboard owners are able to personalise their boards, own a unique URL, an analytics package to measure their effectiveness and share in revenues from the site. A complete tool kit for local/hyperlocal publishing.

Community powered content

The users, n0tice-ers, can share any multimedia content – text, pics, links, tweets, videos, audio. As well as commenting and rating individual stories, they can also easily come together to collaborate on a story or project.

Making money with n0tice

Revenues are based around classified advertising in the local spaces, providing a community solution for highly targeted self-serve advertising and an alternative to the giants (adsense, facebook, craigslist) by giving benefit back to local publishers and their local traders. While individual users can post listings for no charge, prioritising those listings with a highlighted position incurs a small cost. 85% of revenues is paid over to the noticeboard owner.
